Copywriting & SEO

Content intended for websites and other digital mediums must be original, clear, compelling, and easy to scan – both to the human eye and search engines. Copywriting can make or break your brand’s efforts to win new customers and retain existing clients, and is arguably the most important aspect of your digital marketing strategy.

What is copywriting and why do I need it?

Effective website copywriting is a careful blend of brand tone, sales persuasion, compelling vocabulary, and search engine optimisation. It takes time and experience to find the ideal balance between emotional and technical. A good copywriter will survey your brand, target market, products, services, and goals to develop meaningful content which engages your readers and converts them into paying customers.

Can I write my own copy?

You’re welcome to write your own copy, and we’re happy to assist you with planning and editing. However, great copywriting often takes more than half of the total project time – more than design, development, testing and launch put together! We found that most of our clients simply don’t have time to provide their own content, so unless you already have it ready to go, you may wish to at least discuss our content planning and editing services to keep your project moving.

What is SEO?

Search engine optimisation is an umbrella term which simply involves making your website and its content more attractive to search engines. A great website will go nowhere without traffic, and over 90% of web traffic still comes from search engines, with over 2.3 trillion Google searches last year. SEO makes use of keywords that people will search for and subtly makes regular, varied use of them in your content, image descriptions, and metadata in order to associate your website with those terms. It also involves some more technical aspects, such as optimising your website’s files for speed and efficiency, redirecting deleted pages to retain traffic, and submitting sitemaps to search engines for faster recognition.

How do I monitor results?

A number of fantastic tools are available, including Google Analytics, WooRank, and Moz. We also use tools like Lucky Orange to record and analyse how users browse and interact with your website.

All of these tools can produce a lot of data which is often needlessly confusing. Luckily, we have systems in place which allow us to provide weekly reports on your SEO progress.

What do I need to provide?

After an initial consultation, we’ll provide a detailed questionnaire tailored to your business. It should take about 30 minutes to complete and will help us begin our research into your industry and market. We’ll provide drafts to review throughout the process to ensure you’re happy with the outcome.

How much does it cost?

Copywriting costs can vary greatly depending on the length of the content, its intent (persuasive versus informative), and any technical expertise required for the subject matter. Likewise, SEO services can be charged based on the number of pages, the content length, or the level of optimisation offered. Ideally, you’ll want to book a free consultation to discuss your budget, expectations, and the potential value of these services to your business.
